What the French Ministry of Culture records

Edifice construit à la demande de Pierre-Denis, comte de Peyronnet, ministre de la Justice, à l'emplacement de l'ancien château familial. Les travaux, confiés à l'architecte Pierre Laclote, se déroulent de 1826 à 1828. En 1834, l'architecte Pierre-Alexandre Poitevin succède à Laclote, en particulier pour la construction de la chapelle. De composition néo-classique, le château est constitué d'un bâtiment rectangulaire encadré de pavillons d'angle. Des communs disposés en retour d'équerre délimitent une cour intérieure fermée par une grille. Au centre du commun nord, la chapelle néo-gothique présente un plan cruciforme. Elle est voûtée d'ogives et éclairée par un lanterneau octogonal. Les intérieurs du château et des communs ont été entièrement remaniés dans les années 1990.
