The château du Souzy stands in Quincié-en-Beaujolais, set within a nineteen-hectare estate of vineyards, woodland and gardens, a short drive from Beaujeu. The present building, an eighteenth-century manor house, was raised over medieval cellars and a wine-making hall, the only tangible remains of the earlier site along with its dovecote. Visitors find a French-style garden, inner courtyards and outbuildings now converted into event spaces and guest accommodation. This is not a monument open for standard sightseeing, but a private estate experienced through a stay, a meal or an organised event.
