The château du Plessis-de-Vair, at Anetz in the commune of Vair-sur-Loire, combines the remains of a medieval stronghold with classical additions and a rebuilding carried out around the turn of the 20th century. Two round towers from the 15th century, a dovecote, water-filled moats, entrance pavilions and a 17th-century orangery make up a site of layered periods. Tradition links the place to Chrétien de Troyes and the Grail romance, and it received King Francis I and Queen Claude of France in 1518.
