Standing on a small peninsula between two beaches at Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, this medieval-looking castle was actually built in 1882 by architect Alexandre Leroyer for a local count. Its corner towers, machicolations and battlements mimic medieval fortifications, though the walls combine gneiss, polychrome brick and tufa stone in a distinctly 19th-century manner. The site occupies the former location of a 12th-century fortified castle, of which nothing remains, and includes a nearby 18th-century guard post later converted into a chapel. The building now operates as a hotel and restaurant.
