What the French Ministry of Culture records

Ce château de style néo Louis XIII fut construit en 1862-1863 par Arthur Froelicher pour le compte d'Henri de Chasseval. L'édifice est la copie en brique et pierre d'un château édifié par son père, Joseph-Antoine Froelicher, à Kernevez, dans le Finistère. Un avant-corps polygonal est surmonté d'un clocheton très élevé. Les décors intérieurs subsistent au rez-de-chaussée. Les communs forment l'accompagnement architectural du château. Autour d'une cour couverte sont distribuées les écuries, la sellerie et les remises à voiture. Le châteaul servit de résidence au Général Weygand. C'est là que se tint le Conseil suprême franco-anglais des 11 et 12 juin 1940 qui demanda l'armistice.
