To make a day of it

Château du Marais stands in Le Val-Saint-Germain (Essonne), in the Île-de-France region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: third quarter of the 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In the Essonne department, in Le Val-Saint-Germain, the château du Marais is a neoclassical building erected in the 1770s for a wealthy financier, Jean Lemaistre de la Martinière, to designs by architect Jean Benoît Vincent Barré. Palladian in style, it passed through several owners over the centuries, including Boni de Castellane and Anna Gould, who had the grounds redesigned in the early twentieth century. The park, with its long water mirror and mature trees, covers some thirty hectares around the house.
