To make a day of it

Château du Broutel stands in Rue (Somme), in the Hauts-de-France region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Rue, in the Somme department, the Château du Broutel stands in seven hectares of wooded parkland beside a private lake. Built in brick and stone before 1714 for a cavalry officer under Louis XIV, it still holds a salon painted with frescoes by an 18th-century owner who had trained under the painter Joseph Vernet. Having survived the Revolution and German occupation during the Second World War, the building now operates as a hotel and a residential centre for British children.
