Exemple complet d'architecture néo-gothique à la mode troubadour appréciée au 19e siècle, à la demande du propriétaire qui souhaitait ressusciter un mode de vie aristocratique. Ce projet, exécuté par l'architecte Jean Herbault, a été réalisé à partir d'un manoir du 16e siècle ayant servi de noyau au développement de l'ensemble. Le domaine a été aménagé suivant un projet associant la chasse à l'agrément. Un grand parc à l'anglaise est associé à deux parcs à gibier créés pour perpétuer la tradition de la chasse. Ces parcs à gibier sont des créations rares au 19e siècle et renouent avec la tradition des parcs de la Renaissance. Une ferme modèle complète la propriété, encore dans son état d'origine, et témoigne de la modernisation des techniques agricoles au milieu du 19e siècle.
