The château des Essarts, built around 1660 in Limoges, stands on the site of a former medieval fortress. It combines a rectangular seventeenth-century main block facing south with a square tower set behind it. During the nineteenth century, two square pavilions were added flanking the original structure, while existing buildings underwent significant alterations. The grounds underwent landscape changes between 1870 and 1876, and were modified again from 1964 onwards.
