The château de Villennes-sur-Seine, in the Yvelines, is not the building once owned by the Perdrier and Brinon families from the Renaissance onward: the original structure, standing by the Seine since the 13th century and much altered afterwards, was torn down in 1806 on the orders of the marquis de Voisins and his son-in-law the vicomte d'Osmond. The residence now bearing this name was built on the site of the former outbuildings. What remains of interest lies chiefly in the site's history: formal gardens that have since vanished once stretched along the riverbank, known today only through old plans.
