The château de Villeneuve stands at the edge of the village of Essey, in the Côte-d'Or, surrounded by a wide moat crossed by a fixed bridge. Its three-wing plan flanked by hexagonal towers reflects a medieval stronghold reshaped over the centuries, followed by a restoration carried out by the Champeaux family from 1855 onward. The basement holds a vaulted room resting on octagonal pillars, and the ground-floor hall features a monumental carved and painted fireplace.
