To make a day of it

Château de Meilly sur Rouvres stands in Meilly-sur-Rouvres (Côte-d'Or), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

In Meilly-sur-Rouvres, in the Côte-d'Or, stand the remains of a fortified farmstead whose origins trace back to the 14th century, when a stronghold here still belonged to the ducal domain of Burgundy. Of the medieval castle, only the base of a round tower survives, now built into a retaining wall along the preserved moat southeast of the main house. The present building shows a residence rebuilt in the mid-17th century, flanked by a vaulted passage, and surrounded by U-shaped outbuildings enclosing a wide farmyard. The whole site reflects centuries of change, through demolitions, reconstructions and alterations lasting into the 20th century.
