To make a day of it

Château de Créancey stands in Créancey (Côte-d'Or), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century, 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Créancey stands at the western edge of the village, beside the Vandenesse river, crossed by a stone bridge. Rebuilt in 1660 by Antoine Comeau, keeper of the seals of the Parliament of Burgundy, it has a central residence flanked by two taller pavilions, reached by an outdoor staircase with a wrought iron railing resting on Tuscan columns. Around the main building stand outbuildings arranged in three pavilions, including a round dovecote topped with a lantern, and a wooded park that now displays contemporary sculptures.
