What the French Ministry of Culture records
Maison-forte attestée dès le 13e siècle, qui était implantée sur une terrasse sans doute circulaire, ceinte de trois fossés concentriques en eau. Cet édifice fut certainement brûlé en 1636 par les Suédois de Saxe-Weimar. Le château actuel fut bâti sur ces ruines en 1713-1714, par l'architecte Claude-Antoine Aillet. Au cours du 18e siècle des dépendances agricoles furent ajoutées, ainsi que des ponts et des portails. L'ensemble actuel, entouré d'une des douves conservées, se compose d'un logis rectangulaire sur une terrasse, de quatre bâtiments principaux de dépendances agricoles et de diverses annexes. L'absence de décor en façade est représentative de nombreuses constructions civiles du début du 18e siècle dans la région.
