Located in the village of Villefrancon, in the Haute-Saône department, this château stands on the site of a fortified house first recorded in the 13th century and burned down in 1636 during the Swedish wars. The building seen today was erected in 1713-1714 by the architect Claude-Antoine Aillet. Its plain, unadorned façades are typical of early 18th century civil architecture in the region, and a circular moat still surrounds the main house, the farm outbuildings and the dovecote.
