To make a day of it

Château de Ray-sur-Saône stands in Ray-sur-Saône (Haute-Saône), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: first quarter of the 18th century, first quarter of the 19th century). Adult admission costs 7 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Set on a rocky spur above the Saône river, the château de Ray-sur-Saône combines medieval towers with a main building rebuilt in the early 18th century by architect J.P. Galezot. Visitors can see furnished interiors preserved through the descendants of the Salverte family, the last private owners before the estate was donated to the department in 2015. The park, spread over several hectares and redesigned in the 19th century by landscape architect Eugène Bühler, features terraces overlooking the valley and rare, sometimes century-old trees.
