At Viels-Maisons, in the Aisne department, it is above all the gardens that draw visitors, laid out on the remains of a feudal castle destroyed during the Revolution and reworked in the 19th century by the Ladoucette family. The 18th-century park has kept its original layout, with three avenues radiating from the house, while an irregular garden and a pond lined with notable trees form a more intimate setting. The current building, once the gatehouse of the old fortified castle, stands next to an 11th-century Romanesque church.
