In the Périgord vert, away from the village of Saint-Pierre-de-Frugie, the château de Vieillecour stands with its round towers, machicolations and dry moat. Tradition links the site to the birth of Saint Vaast and to a stay of Richard the Lionheart after he was wounded at Châlus, before Du Guesclin stationed his garrison there during the Hundred Years' War. A private property today, it is visited for its defensive architecture, later turned into a pleasure residence between the 15th and 17th centuries.
