What the French Ministry of Culture records
Château probablement édifié à la fin du 16e siècle par Guillaume Gaches, docteur en droit, sur le domaine de Venzac qui avait encore, d'après un état du 16e siècle, la structure d'un mas médiéval. Les temps troublés (guerres de Religion) apparaissent dans une architecture faite de tours rectangulaires et de bouches à feu. Par la suite, ajout au nord d'un escalier à volées droites dont la paroi centrale s'orne de pilastres avec chapiteaux ioniques, sans doute à la place d'une tour ronde. Les communs (bâtiments horizontaux avec une tour ronde) et la chapelle sont typiques du Carladez. Le tuf volcanique a été utilisé pour la construction.
