In Jarzé Villages, in the Anjou countryside, the château de Vaux combines the remains of a 14th century stronghold, moats, towers and a chapel, with a neoclassical main building rebuilt in the early 19th century. Surrounded by water filled moats and an enclosing wall, the estate has belonged to the same family since 1750. Visitors mainly come for the architecture and the wooded grounds around it, the chapel dedicated to Saint George being among the oldest surviving parts.
