In Labourgade, in the Tarn-et-Garonne department, the Terride castle stands on the heights above the Gimone river, its origins dating to the 14th century with the present structure largely built in the 15th. A bridge crosses the former, now dry, moat to reach a brick facade flanked by three towers of differing heights, their lower floors pierced with narrow slit windows and their main floor opened by wide Renaissance-style mullioned windows. The site's history includes the Wars of Religion, a violent siege in 1573 that partly destroyed the south front, and a succession of owners before a restoration carried out at the end of the 19th century.
