To make a day of it

Château de Taisey stands in Saint-Rémy (Saône-et-Loire), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The Château de Taisey overlooks the Saône valley from a terrace at the southern edge of Saint-Rémy. A square tower with drawbridge grooves, a remnant of a medieval fortified house, stands alongside a residence built in the late 17th century for Guillaume Magnien, secretary to the king. Its wings set at right angles, pediments pierced with oculi, and horseshoe-shaped entrance stair reflect the residential architecture of that period in Burgundy. As a private property, the château is not open to visitors.
