To make a day of it

Château de Saudreville stands in Villeconin (Essonne), in the Île-de-France region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century, 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Saudreville stands in the commune of Villeconin, in the Essonne department, within the historic Hurepoix region. Built in the 17th century at the request of Pierre de Rotrou, it retains from that period its moat crossed by a bridge, its main courtyard and its entrance steps. Together with its two gatehouse pavilions and outbuildings, the estate still reflects the layout of a seigneurial residence. Its more recent history includes the ownership of British actress Madeleine Carroll, who acquired the property in 1938.
