To make a day of it

Château de Salans stands in Salans (Jura), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Salans stands on the banks of the Doubs river in the Jura, on the site of a 17th century manor built by the Laborey family. Bought after the Revolution by the Desbiez de Saint-Juan family, it owes its present appearance to Baron Charles de Saint-Juan, who added large windows, two wings, and gave the building a neoclassical Directoire style facade. The estate also includes a three hectare English style park laid out in the 19th century, with a stream, a pond, and period gateways.
