To make a day of it

Château de Saint-Martin-de-Poursan stands in Carcassonne (Aude), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: third quarter of the 16th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In the hamlet of Montredon, near Carcassonne, this residence retains a stair turret dating from the second half of the 16th century, the only protected element of a site first recorded in 932 under the name villa Porcianum. Visitors can make out a doorway dated 1567, a mullioned window and a machicolated bretèche resting on three carved corbels, while the rest of the building has been altered over time. The estate is now privately owned and used for stays and events, which means the historic structure is mainly seen from the outside.
