To make a day of it

Château de Malves-en-Minervois stands in Malves-en-Minervois (Aude), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument. No visits are on record for this building.

Set on a wide plateau above the Minervois countryside, the château de Malves-en-Minervois is a rectangular building flanked by round corner towers, one of which, on the east side, juts out on corbels. The real interest lies inside, under the roof, where a small room keeps a painted ensemble from the 16th century covering both walls and ceiling: a feast of the gods and the quarrel between Ulysses and Ajax. Local tradition holds that King Charles VIII stayed here for a night in 1493, a claim no record confirms but one the château has long kept as part of its story.
