Château de Saint-Élix-le-Château stands in Saint-Élix-le-Château (Haute-Garonne), in the Occitanie region of France. What the French Ministry of Culture records

La légende veut que le château ait été construit à la demande de François Ier pour une favorite. En réalité, il a été bâtir de 1540 à 1548 par l'architecte Laurent Clary pour Pierre Potier, capitoul de Toulouse. A la Révolution, tours, créneaux et toitures furent abattus et les fossés comblés. En 1847, les toitures des deux tours cantonnant la façade nord furent refaites. Le perron nord date du 17e siècle ; le perron sud du 19e. L'édifice se compose d'un pavillon carré cantonné de tours rondes. Le pavillon comprend un sous-sol surmonté d'un rez-de-chaussée et d'un étage carré. Un second étage existait dans les combles, mais a été détruit par un incendie en 1945. Les quatre tours comportent deux étages sur rez-de-chaussée. Les façades sont en briques apparentes. Des meneaux divisent les fenêtres. Frontons et amortissements des lucarnes ont disparu. L'abondance du décor sculpté témoigne de l'ancienne magnificence de l'édifice, qui fut l'une des demeures de la marquise de Montespan.
