To make a day of it

Château de Rancogne stands in Moulins-sur-Tardoire (Charente), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The château de Rancogne stands above the Tardoire river, in the commune of Moulins-sur-Tardoire in the Charente department. The main residence, built around 1519 by Jean Maindron and his wife, was completed at the end of the 16th century with a rectangular keep and round towers forming an almost closed quadrangle. A wooden gallery from the early 16th century, uncommon in the Angoumois region, can be seen, along with the Cressiec tower, a remnant of the earlier medieval castle hidden among the vegetation between the church and the estate.
