To make a day of it

Château de Princé stands in Chaumes-en-Retz (Loire-Atlantique), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The château de Princé, in Chaumes-en-Retz (Loire-Atlantique), survives only as scattered ruins within the forest of Princé. Several successive buildings once stood on the site, starting with a medieval manor from the 14th century connected to Jeanne Chabot and the Laval family, before the estate was burned down in 1793 during the Vendée war. Nearby lie the remains of a 17th-century pleasure garden known as the îles enchantées, laid out under Henri de Gondi, duke of Retz, with its canals, small pavilions and a pool called the Baignoir.
