Château de Pornic stands in Pornic (Loire-Atlantique), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 14th century, 19th century). Adult admission costs 10 EUR. Overlooking the harbour of Pornic, this castle combines medieval remains with a silhouette reshaped in the 19th century. Its towers and sections of curtain wall date back to the stone rebuilding carried out by the lords of Rais, while the arched, brick-trimmed façades stem from an 1886 renovation inspired by Italian architecture. The estate once belonged to Gilles de Rais, before passing through the hands of several Nantes merchant and banking families.
