What the French Ministry of Culture records
Ancienne forteresse médiévale de la fin du 12e siècle, remaniée au 16e siècle. Un château est construit par Guillaume de Pézénas au début du 13e siècle. Le vieux château présente un corps de logis principal à trois étages sur rez-de-chaussée voûté. Tours rondes aux angles nord et nord-ouest. Au sud-est, un corps rectangulaire pourrait être une partie subsistante d'un logis primitif. Tour carrée de l'escalier à vis adossée en milieu de façade sud. Au devant, cour fermée à l'est et au sud par une courtine. Crénelage et corbeaux d'un chemin de ronde disparu, établis postérieurement aux portails primitifs à l'est, sous une baie géminée à coussièges. Grand portail sud orné d'une grille. Angles sud et sud-est renforcés par une tour ronde. Meurtrières à la base des tours. Ensemble bâti en petit et moyen appareil de basalte. Au sud et au sud-ouest, distincts du château, ensemble de bâtiments anciens avec chapelle, tour d'escalier à vis, forge et pigeonnier.
