Château de Chanac stands in Chanac (Lozère), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 12th century, first quarter of the 13th century). The building opens only occasionally, for events.

Standing on a promontory above the Lot river, the château de Chanac still shows its keep, the remaining part of a stronghold that served for centuries as the summer residence of the bishops of Mende. A clock tower and sections of brick ramparts complete this medieval ensemble, largely destroyed by fire during the Revolution. Visitors come for the 12th and 13th century military architecture and for the view over the valley.
