Une dame de Panat est mentionnée en 1584. Le château est flanqué d'une tourelle circulaire. L'angle de cette façade est muni d'une échauguette dont ne subsiste que la base. Au pied de cet angle, un escalier mène à un petit jardin qui lui-même conduit à la terrasse sur laquelle s'ouvrent les façades principales. L'église, présentant une nef unique et un imposant clocher carré, était l'ancienne chapelle castrale. La travée proche du choeur était bordée de chapelles peu profondes.
