Montretout castle, at Dangu in the Eure region, is a neoclassical building raised in the mid 18th century and almost entirely rebuilt at the very end of the 19th century, after a fire in 1871. Bought by the Duke Pozzo di Borgo, it was dismantled and reassembled stone by stone at Dangu between 1896 and 1899, on an estate that already held an older fortified castle. The architect Dauvergne gave it its present appearance, while Achille Duchêne redesigned the surrounding park. The estate, now privately owned, is mainly rented out for events rather than open for traditional heritage visits.
