Situé sur la terre seigneuriale de Monthorin, dépendant de la baronnie de Fougères, le château de Monthorin a été construit au 17e siècle sur l'emplacement de l'ancien manoir par Gilles Ruëllan, seigneur de Tiercent. De plan rectangulaire, le château est de style Louis XIII en brique avec encadrements des baies, bandeaux et motifs en pierre. Acquis sous le premier Empire par le général de la Riboisière, le château est agrandi par l'adjonction de deux ailes en retour d'équerre flanquées de tourelles polygonales, et l'intérieur entièrement remanié. Le jardin et le parc sont aménagés, et une chapelle funéraire construite.
