At Marly-sur-Arroux, the château de Mazoncle stands on the site of a fortified house recorded as early as the 14th century. The present building, erected in the 1560s for Antoine de Saint-Anthot, follows an unusual layout: a central pavilion flanked by square towers, each in turn flanked by smaller towers, all topped with steep pavilion roofs. Around the main house are a dovecote, outbuildings and a 19th century landscape park that replaced an earlier formal garden.
