The château de Mauremont stands in the Haute-Garonne department, in the heart of the Lauragais region, on the site of a fortress dismantled in the 17th century on Richelieu's orders. Rebuilt from 1660 onward, it retains a square bastion tower pierced with loopholes from its defensive past, the only surviving trace of the original moated quadrangular layout. A bridge crosses the former moat to reach the main building, flanked by two side wings and dovecote towers, with outbuildings and a park added in the 19th century.
