To make a day of it

Château de Massaguel stands in Massaguel (Tarn), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 16th century, 17th century, 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In the Tarn region, the Massaguel castle stands on a fortified site dating back to the mid 12th century, battered first by the Albigensian Crusade and later by an assault during the Wars of Religion in 1569. Its square plan flanked by round towers still recalls this military past, while mullioned windows and 18th century openings show its later transformation into a more comfortable residence. Inside, three rooms on the main floor keep Louis XV and Louis XVI stucco decorations depicting seasons, music and flowers.
