To make a day of it

Château d'Escoussens stands in Escoussens (Tarn), in the Occitanie region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Overlooking the village that bears its name in the Tarn department, Escoussens castle has stood on a slight promontory since the 12th century, its stone façades still massive and austere. Originally built for the lords of Dourgne, vassals of the Trencavel family, it endured the Albigensian Crusade before passing through the hands of several co-lords and then the Carthusians of Saïx for two centuries. Visitors come today for its largely unaltered medieval military appearance, with visible gun loops, arrow slits and an old rampart below the building.
