Construction caractéristique de l'architecture militaire de la fin du Moyen Age en Haute-Auvergne. Vestige d'un ensemble plus important, ce donjon rectangulaire aux murs très épais, aux rares ouvertures étroites et à la toiture couronnée de mâchicoulis, a conservé l'essentiel de ses dispositions d'origine. L'intérieur, constitué d'une pièce unique par niveau, présente des éléments de décor authentiques (cheminées monumentales moulurées).
