The house carries the marks of a turbulent history, that of the Botet de Lacaze family, Protestant notables struck by the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. In 1895, Bordeaux architect Louis Garros reworked the north wing by adding a chapel, while landscape designer Eugène Bülher redesigned the surrounding park.
