To make a day of it

Château de la Sauvagère stands in Chemiré-le-Gaudin (Sarthe), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument. The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de la Sauvagère, in Chemiré-le-Gaudin in the Sarthe region, originated as a modest 13th century dwelling that was expanded over successive generations. Major building works in the 16th century, carried out by the Le Vayer family, gave the manor house its present form, including an interior wooden staircase and a gateway decorated with studded doors. It is this gateway, a notable remnant of the 16th and 17th century works, that is protected as a historic monument.
