To make a day of it

Château de La Sagne stands in Mazamet (Tarn), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century, 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

La Sagne is an eighteenth-century castle on the outskirts of Mazamet. Originally a modest building in poor condition, it was completely rebuilt between 1733 and 1794 by the Olombel family, textile merchants whose commercial success shaped the town. During the nineteenth century, the castle underwent major refurbishment around 1870, with facades and interiors redesigned. The two-hectare park that surrounds it, laid out in the nineteenth century, isolates the building from the city and underscores its status.
