What the French Ministry of Culture records

Saint-Brice relevait de la baronnie de Fougères. C'était une châtellenie d'ancienneté qui fut érigée en baronnie en 1566 puis en marquisat en 1664. Le château existait en 1151. Il était autrefois fortifié et entouré d'un étang. Ruiné dès 1580, le château actuel est une construction du début du 17e siècle. Il forme trois côtés d'un carré et est flanqué de quatre pavillons. S'y trouvent également un perron, une orangerie et un bassin à balustres. La porte d'entrée avec son portillon, protégée autrefois par une herse et deux pont-levis, est percée dans un bâtiment flanqué de deux petites tourelles carrées.
