The château de la Meyfrenie stands in Verteillac, in the Dordogne, on the site of a 15th century noble residence turned into a château from 1510 onward. Destroyed by fire in 1820, it was rebuilt in a classical style and still retains its main house, its park and extensive farm outbuildings arranged around successive courtyards. The estate reflects the 19th century growth of winegrowing, evident in the orderly layout of the working buildings around the farm manager's house.
