To make a day of it

Château de la Fontaine stands in Brétigny-sur-Orge (Essonne), in the Île-de-France region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The château de la Fontaine stands in Brétigny-sur-Orge, on grounds occupied since the mid-12th century by a manor house, later split into two separate estates before being merged into a single holding at the end of the 15th century. The current building, rebuilt in 1902 on its original foundations, has served several purposes over time: home to a jurist and later to a figure close to Napoleon I, a boarding school during the Second World War, and eventually a university site. The surrounding park, decorated with statues added during the 1902 reconstruction, has been open to the public since 1976.
