At Mareuil en Périgord, the château de la Faye presents a 17th century main building flanked by two pavilions, the older of which retains mullioned windows from an earlier 16th century structure. The estate belonged in turn to the Puyzilhon, Maillard and Bellussière families, passing between them by inheritance. At the entrance to the park stands a 1642 cross carved with acanthus leaves and a Christ figure with bound hands, a type of carved cross now uncommon in the Périgord region.
