To make a day of it

Château de la Chaux stands in Alligny-en-Morvan (Nièvre), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Set in the Morvan Regional Nature Park, the château de la Chaux overlooks a small valley near Alligny-en-Morvan, on a site thought to have once held a Roman villa. The present building dates from the mid 19th century, commissioned by Eugène Pelletier de Chambure, who rebuilt both the main house and its adjoining chapel. The grounds hold a park planted with sequoias and cedars, where Gallo-Roman stelae were discovered. The château is not listed as a protected historic monument, though it was recorded in the regional inventory in 1986.
