To make a day of it

Château de La Celle stands in La Celle-les-Bordes (Yvelines), in the Île-de-France region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Set in a valley of the Yvelines near Rambouillet, the château de La Celle is a Louis XIII style residence built around 1610 for Claude de Harville, a councillor of State under Henry IV. Its façades combine brick and sandstone from Étampes, and the great hall still recalls the estate's days as a centre of stag hunting, when the Duchess of Uzès filled it with trophies from the Rallye-Bonnelles pack. Having passed through the Harville, Uzès and Brissac families, the property now belongs to a collector who fills it with works of art from different periods.
