What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château de l'Anglais représente un caractère emblématique de la villégiature niçoise. Construit à partir de 1856, date de l'achat du terrain, par Robert Smith, officier du génie anglais en Inde ; propriété à partir de 1875 de la famille Gurowski de Wezele ; puis de diverses sociétés immobilières ; enfin copropriété depuis 1949. Le domaine descendait jusqu'à la mer et comprenait de nombreuses fabriques. Il a été morcelé et altéré. Sont conservés le château, d'architecture éclectique influencée par les constructions néo-mogholes, et la rotonde de l'ancienne salle de musique, au décor néo-classique.
