On the Saint-Tropez peninsula, the Château de la Moutte is a residence built in 1856 and enlarged after its purchase in 1860 by Émile Ollivier, the last head of government under Napoleon III. He lived there with Blandine Liszt, daughter of composer Franz Liszt, and retreated to the estate after the fall of the Second Empire. The palm-planted park and the ground-floor reception rooms, kept in their original décor, still reflect this history as both family bastide and political retreat.
